Has anyone on older M1 macs experienced significant rendering and responsiveness slowdowns since Copenhagen? I’m finding myself restarting Sketch 2-3 times a day to resolve these responsiveness issues. It ‘feels’ like a memory leak (the gradual slowdown the longer you work in a project) and it tends to resolve after a restart, only to creep slower and slower as the day goes on.
Even outside of that, general responsiveness is overall a laggier experience. Updating symbols can sometimes take 5-10 seconds of a hard lock while the program updates the renderings. I’ve also noticed that real time rendering of frames and layouts is much less consistent than before, and moving between layouts will take multiple seconds of waiting while the program renders the layout. I’m not working with complex screens either (website mockups with images/copy/the occassional drop shadow).
Is this consistent with other users on older hardware? Or is it just me?
I totally agree! The new version gets laggy after working on it for a while—especially when picking colors. I usually have to wait around 5 seconds for it to respond. I’m also using an Apple M1, and I’m on a tight budget, so I can’t afford a new Mac right now.
Performance is always a priority for us. Could you please share local copies of the documents or the URLs so we can review them? We’d like to test them on our side and see if there’s something we need to fix.
Please email us at productsupport@sketch.com. Additionally, if you’re sharing the URLs, could you grant us access to your workspace? We don’t have access to users’ documents by default, so there’s a tool to allow us temporary permissions to support.
