Sketch feels lagging and using a lot of memory

The sketch app is feeling extremely sluggish these days. Additionally, when I check my activity monitor, it consumes a significant amount of memory even when it’s idle. This behavior is not normal.

Hello @arunbsonline!

We’re currently working on identifying and fixing performance issues, particularly memory leaks. In fact, our latest version, 2025.2.3, which we launched this week, already includes fixes for some memory leaks.

Could you confirm this is still happening with the latest version of Sketch? If so, it would be great to retrieve a sample of Sketch while it’s becoming slow.

Please follow these steps to obtain the log files. These will contain the information we need to investigate:

  1. Open the Mac app and open the documents that are usually affected by this. It is essential that you use the documents where this slowness is perceived.

  2. Launch the Terminal App (found in Applications/Utilities) and input this command:

sample Sketch 90 -wait -mayDie -file ~/Desktop/Sample-$(date "+%Y-%m-%d_%H.%M.%S").txt

  3. Attempt to reproduce the issue. You’ll have to spend 90 seconds doing the actions that feel sluggish, because the terminal command will be “listening” to what you perform in Sketch.

  4. This will create a text file named “Sample” with the current date on your desktop.

  5. Please attach the resulting file to your response.

This way, we can see the processes affected and determine the cause.

In any case, please make sure you’re using the latest Sketch version so we’re sure this is something we’ve not fixed before.

as i open my file it immediately took 4.5 gb. im using the latest version of sketch (Version 2025.2.3 (205383)) . the zooming seems lagging to me compared to before.

since im not able to attach text/zip , here is the link to the text file Sample-2025-10-03_13.42.25

Hello Arun,

I’ve been looking at the logs, and they seem to contain some processes that are taking way too much time to process. Since we’ve been unable to reproduce the issue on our side, Could we have a copy of your document to test this issue and study it?

You can write to us at productsupport@sketch.com and attach the files or document URL in the workspace so we can take a look. Also, you might need to activate Support access for us to take a look, in case it’s a workspace-stored document.

Thanks for reporting!

hi Jorge,

I would really like to help with this but im so sorry i can’t share the file with you since i work under strict NDA.

Hope you understand :slightly_smiling_face:

No problem, Arun!

In any case, we continue to work on performance improvements and will add more fixes in upcoming releases.

If there’s any chance you will see documents affected and not under NDAs, please don’t hesitate to contact us through the email mentioned.
