Latest Beta - Smart Animate doesn't animate objects in groups

When items are animated inside a group, the animation is a doubled overlay, not a proper animation.
Issue is not present if using Frames instead of Groups.

Seems to have appeared when I updated to Version 2025.2.2 (205280) today. Can’t rollback so I’m unsure.

I’ve joined a file to demonstrate. Where I’m moving an item inside a group and Smart Animate between 2 Artboards.

Issue is not present in pre-barcelona Sketch neither : Version 101.9 (182113).

Thanks for reporting this and sharing your file. We’ll look into it. I was able to reproduce it:

  1. Create a frame
  2. Add layers inside it
  3. Group the layers
  4. Duplicate the frame and add the animation

Result: the animation won’t work.

Workarounds:

  • Ungroup and regroup the layers, this will fix the issue
  • Duplicate the frame and then group the layers
    • If you duplicate the frame with grouped layers, it won’t work.

Thanks for the reply. That’s exactly it.

Another workaround is to use Frames instead of Groups.

I’m using macOS Sonoma 14.7.6
