Insert > Image… doesn't work

Hello,

I recently updated to version 2025.3, and now Insert > Image… doesn’t seem to work. Choosing it (either from the Insert button or from the top menu) does nothing.

Is anyone else having this problem?

I’m on a MacBook Pro M2 Max, running macOS Sequoia 15.7.2.

Hi @Henkedge, and welcome to the Sketch forum!

I’m using the same macOS version as yours and I’m not able to reproduce this issue. The Finder window appears every single time, and I’m able to insert images, no problem.

This being said, I’d look for possible problems in the files that were there before the update, namely preferences files and plugins. Let’s discard these if you don’t mind.

Discarding the Pref files

You can trash or move the preferences file (called com.bohemiancoding.sketch3.plist) that you’ll find in this path:

~/Library/Preferences

You can access it directly by opening Finder and pressing shift + command + G. Then paste the path.

Be careful, please. This is the only file that you should move. Do this with all Sketch instances closed (press Command + Q to be sure). After removing the file from the Preferences folder, you will reset some Sketch configurations. Open Sketch and please tell us if the problem is solved.

You can take the old preference file back to that folder if you want, by replacing it. Remember! Sketch must be closed while doing so.

Discarding plugins

I wouldn’t say this could be related to plugins, but let’s discard these as well in case the previous troubleshooting doesn’t work.

In Sketch, you can force a ‘Safe mode’ which opens Sketch with the plugins temporarily disabled. Just open Sketch while holding the Shift Key. Then try to insert images that way.

Please let me know the results of both tests. This could hint at the root cause here.

Hello Jorge,

Discarding the preference file did the trick! Thank you for your help.
