I was trying to add hotspots to a series of artboards to create a clickable demo prototype. First hotspot worked fine - click ‘i’ draw the hotspot and link to next artboard. After that every artboard shows a green connector dot on the right side of the artboard - or any selected object on the artboard as well. This prevents inserting a new hotspot on the artboard.
When doing this I have nothing selected except the artboard… but the green connector dot prevents me from inserting a hotspot as it immediately tries to connect to something.
I’ve selected all artboards and removed any links.
Using the latest Version 101.8 (182106)
Am I missing something here?
THanks!
Hi there,
I think I know what’s going on. If you select an Artboard or layer and press the I
key, it will create an interaction link on the artboard or layer. It won’t create a hotspot layer.
Once you’ve created an interaction link any other layers you select will display the green circle you mention, until you do something else, like draw a shape. This is to save time when you’re adding prototype links.
To draw a hotspot layer make sure you don’t have an Artboard or layer selected, then press the I
key and drag to draw the hotspot area.
Here’s a quick demo, I hope it helps:
Ah yes - that’s it! Thanks… I must have mis-read the user guide - “make sure you have nothing selected on the Canvas”. Selecting an artboard sure throws in a monkey wrench!
In the process I discovered you can also copy a hotspot from board to board… but the procedure shown above works very well.
Oh thanks for sharing this bit! We’ll make sure to make the docs more clear in this regard!
