Comments Privacy/Role Settings

With the sunsetting of Invision, our agency is looking for the same opportunity to comment internally privately from our clients’ view and have clients comment.

The feature in InVision to select a comment type (Comment; Private Comment; Note; Tour Point) was crucial to our process and we are looking specifically for control of what clients can see and what our internal team sees.

  • ‘Comments’ were the most public options where the team could communicate with the client exclusively and our developers could also see the comments for clarity.
  • This feature also helped us collaborate with our developers in two ways: Private Comments for collaborating and Notes for feature or functionality documentation that couldn’t be represented by prototyping. This helps us collaborate in real time before we are ready to share our final delivery and present it to clients.
  • Whereas the ‘Tour Points’ were less useful for our process, I could still see the benefit of these in a prototype.

Hi Alyssa,

Welcome to the Forum! I can clearly see how Private Comments can be super useful when working with external clients. I’ve added this as a Feature Request and shared it with the team.

Thanks for taking the time to share it and welcome again!

Coming from InVision, this is a feature I really miss in Sketch. I’d like to annotate the designs for our developers by placing ‘private’ comments that are not visible for clients that are involved in the project. At the moment there is not really another way to do this?

Hi Justin,

Not at the moment I’m afraid. If you have access to the document on the web app, you can display all unresolved comments (read or unread). Resolved comments can only be seen from the Mac app by Editors.
