Hello @tom_powster1, and welcome to the forum!

We’ve been trying to reproduce this issue to no avail. We’re capable of trimming the pixels on double click on borders so that Frames can adapt to their contents. See video:

If you’re referring to another option that allows you to trigger pixels, could you elaborate on the situation and steps you’re trying to follow so we can assist you?

Thanks for reporting!

Hi as you can see in the screen recording, when I double click the image I have selected, the transparent pixels should be removed. This no longer works after updating to 2025.3 (220524).

Thanks for the video, Tom! It made it super clear :person_bowing: ,I’m filing this internally so our team can review and discuss it.

In the meantime, you can still use the same feature. While an image is selected, you can go to Layer > Image > Trim Transparent Pixels in the menu, or call it using the Command Bar. This last one is the most interesting, because the Command Bar will remember your most frequently used tools, so they are always at hand and quicker to use.

I hope this helps while we take a look!

Hello @tom_powster1, after filing your case internally, we’ve been discussing this issue internally and marked it as expected afterwards.

This is actually part of the changes introduced by the fact that we now have a Trim tool in the menu bar (Layer > Image > Trim Transparent Pixels), which was previously only accessible through the bitmap tools, on double-clicking. We have made sure to introduce improvements that make it more accurate and reliable as well.

Thanks for your feedback!

Hi, thanks for the update. However, I’m not sure I understand how this is an improvement.

A double-click is fast, and having this option tucked away in a submenu is less efficient. Is there a keyboard shortcut for Trim Transparent Pixels?

I’m also not seeing how removing the double-click increases accuracy or reliability, but it does slow down our workflow.

Happy to be corrected if I’m missing something!

Hello Tom,

Yeah, you can use a custom shortcut for any menu item in any app.

Just go to System Preferences > Keyboard Shortcuts > App Shortcuts and add the one you want. You can learn more details about the process in this support article on Apple’s site.

I’m sorry you feel this is a step back in your productivity. Now, instead of having to enter the bitmap edition mode and double-click, you can select the bitmap and use the new tool directly, either via a shortcut, the menu, or the Command Bar.

We believe in centralizing tools in the menus so you can have access through the menus themselves, custom shortcuts, or the Command Bar. I encourage you to try and get used to it for a bit so you can see the benefits we’re seeing as well. Give it a try and let us know!

In any case, and please make no mistake, you’re feedback is noted, and that’s the main reason why we’re offering this forum in the first place, so please keep the feedback coming, we’re more than happy to listen to you :person_bowing:

Hi!

Before Copehhagen, when I edited a bitmap, the resulting image would trim transparent pixels automatically. Now, the image dimensions stay the same, which is inconvenient to me. Furthermore, to trim the transparent pixels, I have to go into the Layer menu → Image → Trim transparent pixels. Is there a way to re-enable automatic trimming, or to add the functionality to the top toolbar so it’s not as inconvenient?

Hello @gg-sketch! I’ve taken the liberty of moving your case here, as these questions were already answered. Hope it helps!

Sure, not a problem!

So, reading over the thread: what’s the problem with having two entry points to a tool? One is in the Command Bar, which is slow but has everything, but another could be in the edit menu where it is contextual and is right after the editing functionality.

I miss automatic triming too
