Weird spacing for text

Why is there an unwanted space at the top for text? Is this the default behavior? Also, when I try to move the stack element instead of moving it, it selects the text and moves it out of the stack layout? It feel weird.

Hi there. :waving_hand:
For the first issue you mentioned, the amount of spacing around text is determined by the creator of the font, rather than any software that makes use of the font. Compare these two fonts, both in Sketch with the same size settings:

On the second issue, the reason the text layer moves is because it’s the text layer that is being directly selected on the canvas. As shown at the end of the video, if you want to move the actual fame, then you will need to select the frame by clicking on its title.

usually we use cmd + click to select the inner layer, right ?

You have always been able to directly select layers on Artboards, and now Canvas-level Frames too, which behave in the same way. Even if that Frame has Stacks applied to it, it is still a Frame. This is different to the older Smart Layout behaviour for example, which you might be likening it to, but note that applying Smart Layout to a selection of layers wrapped the layers inside of a Group. And using Cmd-click works for directly selecting layers inside of Groups, whether it’s a Smart Layout Group or a basic Group.
Hopefully that explains the selection-logic that is happening here. :folded_hands:
