Hi everyone, i have a question. Trying to move back to Sketch from Figma and one thing annoys me.
When i work in Sketch Mac app and then look up the file in Web app it takes so long that the file is synced to web and updated in there. Is this normal behavior? Should that not be instant, realtime?
Happy to help you on this transition period. I would like to know more about your experience.
The sync time between the Mac app and the Web app is generally not instant, but in most cases, it should be reasonably quick. The typical workflow is to save your changes in the Mac app, wait for the success notification, and then view the updated file in the Web app. This delay is usually just a few seconds, though it can vary depending on file size and network speed.
If you’re experiencing delays longer than a couple of minutes, that could indicate an unusual issue.
Hi. I thought that if i save a file to Web app it saves auto updates? I tried now a simple file (just a simple logo) and saved it, waited 1min, after that i opened the web app and still see the previous version directly. To see the new version i see update icon. That should not happen. I should view the latest version automatically.
I have a fast connection with no problems in other apps ;).
You’re absolutely right—Sketch does have auto-save, but in this context saving ≠ versions. . Auto-save runs constantly to ensure your data is safe, whether you’re working offline or need recovery in case of a crash.
To publish a change in the Web App, you’ll need to create a version. You can do this by pressing ⌃ ⌘ S (control + command + S) in the Mac App, which will open a dialog box where you can confirm your new version, add a description or even starred it.
Once you create and upload the version, you should see your changes right away in the Web App.
