Sketch file lagging: Slow loading with Page switching and Zooming

Hey there!

I’m working on a local Sketch file with 4 pages, each having ~12 artboards. It’s nothing too complicated, but there are quite a few bitmaps (2560x1440) in there.

The issue I’m having is that switching between pages really slows down the app—it takes about ~10 seconds to load every artboard. The same thing happens when I zoom in and out (Fit Canvas ⌘1). It takes several seconds to load them, which isn’t normal… But when I open the same .sketch file in Lunacy app, everything works smoothly and quickly, with no glitches. Any idea why this might be happening?

This is all happening in version 100. I tried installing the beta version 100.1, and it helped a bit, but it still lags during loading and at random times. I’ve got 128 GB of RAM and an M3 Max, so I don’t think it’s a hardware issue.

Occasionally, this file can cause the whole application to crash—about once every 20 times or so.

Any help would be much appreciated!
Thanks in advance!

P.S. - Interestingly, the Canvas Minimap loads everything instantly and shows all the artboards right away, while the main app view starts with empty artboards and takes over 10 seconds to load everything.

Hi Damian,

Thanks for reporting and sharing this! We’ll get to testing and looking into if we need to fix something on Minimap. Is there any chance that you can share a copy of the affected file to our email productsupport@sketch.com? That’d be very helpful.

Thanks
