Is it fair to assume this would behave identically to the same preference we have in the Mac app currently?

If you mean the checkbox that inverts the scroll, no.
If we look at popular mapping services, we notice that when we scroll the wheel toward us, the picture will move away. I would like to see the same behavior on Canvas by default. And the developers would like to suggest to think about how the scrolling is made and if it is necessary to change the direction, then do it when scrolling not with the mouse wheel.
Our developers hate the inverted mouse pad behaviour. Please let the users of the webapp choose.
