Sorry for posting this here — for some reason, I can’t seem to post in the Off Topic section.
I’m about to buy a Mac for working away from home (I usually work with two 27” displays, one in landscape and one in portrait mode).
Has anyone used Sketch comfortably on the 14” MacBook Pro M4? I know the 15” MacBook Air offers a bit more screen real estate, but I’d be giving up the nano-texture display option — which could be helpful when working near windows. (That option isn’t available for the Air line.)
Unfortunately, I can’t try the machines myself — a friend is buying the Mac abroad and bringing it to me, and in my country there’s no way for me to test them in person. That’s why I’d really appreciate any insights from fellow designers who’ve used Sketch on either model.
I have a 13" MacBook Air (M2) which runs with Sketch perfectly fine. It’s not my main machine but I have had it connected to my XDR for a while without fault.
I don’t travel as much as I used to, but appreciate it not being as thick or as heavy as the Pro.
I have the same setup as @chris (13” M2 Air) and while I much prefer running Sketch on a 27” monitor, it is absolutely fine to work with on the smaller, 13“ display.
I have a 13" M1 Macbook Pro, and it’s been a wonder to use. Sketch runs smoothly, and it’s comfortable to use. Even though it is not my main device (I mostly use it when on the go and traveling) it is perfectly fine for every day use if need be.
For context, my office setup is similar as yours (dual 27" displays).
At home, the macbook pro m1 is 14 inches. At work, I connect it to a 24-inch monitor.
For non-permanent work, 14 inches is enough, I think even a macbook air 13 is enough (because there are 13.6 and 14.2). If you travel frequently, I would choose Air 13.
