Icons in figma file are not imported to Sketch correctly

Hi good day, I’m new to Sketch and the whole design area, I’m a developer and trying to use Sketch to build some simple mockups for my own projects using existing design kits.

I’m trying to import and use Patternfly 6 design kit which is only available at figma. I noticed the icons are correctly imported. For example, on page Filters:

This is how it looks like in Figma:

This is how it looks like in Sketch:

During the import, I did received errors on missing fonts:

However I did have these fonts installed on my Font Book:

I even tried replace them accordingly in Document Settings, but it doesn’t seems to fix the icon issues:

May I know which part I’m doing wrong? Thank you

Hi there, welcome to the Forum, and thanks for sharing this.

Just so you know, you’re not doing anything wrong :+1: . There are two things here:

1- Errors that appear when importing

There can be many differences in how Figma and Sketch handle properties, some properties may not exist in Sketch or exist in a different way. This is why you may see different errors when importing, but most of the time data is imported correctly and you can use the file in Sketch.

For example, Sketch tries to find the document fonts in Google Fonts, but if that doesn’t work, it prints a warning error like the one you shared. If you have the font installed, Sketch should pick it up, but there can still be cases where the Figma file has a different version, and you can see it as a missing font in Sketch.

2- Icon issues

We’re currently looking into this. As far as we can tell, these aren’t font icons, but a rather unique setup involving variants, wrapping the icons in a mask, and applying a boolean operation. We’ll need to test more.
