Strange behaviour changing colors

I don’t get why this is happening, but changing a color should never modify a layout. For some reason the artboard gets bigger changing a text color (selecting the text with Text tool too)

Using Version 99.5 (178873)

Hi @leohans , thanks for sharing this, can you share with us a sample file with this symbol to productsupport@sketch.com so we can take a closer look?

Thanks

Thanks Leo! I have the ticket now and will keep you posted

To keep this post updated:

The artboard resizes because it has a minimum height value set and the symbol source is shorter than that value. This alone wouldn’t cause the artboard to resize, since we’re editing layers in the symbol source. Unless the layers are grouped. In this case, Smart Layout kicks in, because the symbol source is an artboard, it has Smart Layout, and the edited layer is inside a group. So when you edit the text layer’s color, Smart Layout kicks in, and applies the minimum width value to the artboard.

However, there’s something we’re currently looking into: if you edit a shape’s color under the same conditions (inside a group) the artboard doesn’t grow.

The workaround currently is to pause Smart Layout while editing the text layer or ungroup it.

We’ll share more info as soon as we have some news
