Is there a way to fast select all layers (hidden, locked or otherwise) via the layer panel in an artboard - or select all layers on all artboards without missing anything at all? This includes open groups, closed groups, the content inside their groups… etc.
If I use shift click, it’ll skip open groups and select only their contents - if groups are closed, I miss the content inside them.
If I drag select via the canvas, I either skip groups or their content and miss hidden layers.
I want to do this to mass rename all layers, or copy content from one artboard to another without messing up the folder structure.
You can press ⌘A to select all top-level Artboards on the Canvas, and then you can press ⏎ Return to select all the child elements of the selected Artboards on the Canvas.
You can also: select the Artboard, then press ⏎ Return and it will select the first child element of the Artboard, and then press ⌘A to select everything within the Artboard.
Since you want to do a mass rename action, you can use the Edit > Rename All… option in the menubar and adjust the naming parameters to your liking
Both options there get me to the top layer of the content inside the artboard, but not to any grouped children or grandchildren of those parent objects. It also excludes any hidden layers.
Rename All is a great tool, but my exact purpose for the renaming part of this query is to mass-update all of my symbols to be renamed to what those symbols now currently are.
So i started by adding Symbol A onto my artboard, then swapped it to Symbol B, but the layer name doesn’t update accordingly when it’s swapped. I have a plugin that does the renaming, but i cannot select all layers at once by any method.
Is there a way to CMD+A select all artboards, then press Enter, or Shift Enter to select every single folder, layer, hidden object and update all at once?
As well as renaming i also want the capability to select all layers, or a portion of them so that i can group them, with all of the hierarchy, and copy them to new artboards of different size etc. Its just that trying to select layers in the panel skips folder structure if the folder/group is opened up.
