See the full name of color variable easily

Hey!

I’d like to ask you, if it’d be possible to see the full color name easily in the web version of Sketch.

Great example is how a text styles are displayed - it shows the last name and full path, plus if the full path doesn’t fit (truncated), hovering over it reveals the whole path.

On color variables, we see only the name. When hovered, it doesn’t display the full path either, leaving the developer guessing which “Gray” it might refer to (background gray, text gray, …)

It’d be really helpful if we could see the whole path behind “This Document” or if the whole variable name would be revealed on hover, or in the color detail:

Thank you for considering this! :folded_hands:

Hi, @OndrejTom

Thanks for sharing this. It makes sense to have the paths for variables too. I’ve brought this to the team’s attention. I can’t make any promises of course, but we’ll share any relevant updates here when available.

Thanks for sharing this :folded_hands:

Glad to see I’m not the only one with this (admittedly minor) issue! I was trying to double-check some HEX codes against set color variables and realized there wasn’t a way to quickly confirm the details of the color variable unless I switched over to the solid color selection tool.

In the grand scheme of things it’s a fairly trivial issue, but even something like a tooltip that eventually appears on hover over a color variable showing its values would save a decent chunk of time.
