New Mac beta: 2025.2 (Barcelona) available now

Hey folks :waving_hand:

We have a brand new beta out today — Barcelona. You can download it from sketch.com/beta or open your existing beta build and follow the prompts to update.

As you know, WWDC kicked off last night, with Apple announcing a major redesign of its platforms. We’re no stranger to these announcements, but we also know that a significant one like this doesn’t come around very often.

For us, that means our next Sketch update has to do two things:

  1. Give you, our customers, the tools to create and design for the next generation of Apple platforms
  2. Feel right at home in a world of Liquid Glass, while also staying true to being a pro tool.

With this in mind, our Barcelona beta will last all summer, up until when Apple ships macOS Tahoe in the Fall.

In that time we’ll be adding new tools to help you with your work, starting today with progressive blur and, later on, Liquid Glass.

Meanwhile, we’ll be redesigning Sketch for this new world in the open. We’ll be sharing progress on our social channels and here in the forum, discussing them with you, and finding out what you’re doing with your own redesigns.

In the spirit of redesigning in the open, you’ll notice this beta comes with a new icon — our first steps into the world of liquid glass.

As ever, all the usual beta warnings apply: Keep backups of your files, be aware that things may change, and that opening documents in this version will render them incompatible with previous versions.

Enjoy the beta — we’ll talk more in the comments!

P.S. To save the replies below becoming hard to follow, please report any bugs you find in Share an issue — thanks!

Thank you for the new toy! :high_voltage: I really love how you designed the UI, but I’m curious—why is there a new icon for the Sketch beta?

@damiandmowski The app icon, you mean? I mention it here:

Naturally we want to explore this new style as much as we can, including in our icon. Nothing is set in stone, but this first beta felt like a good place to start.

My mistake! I just noticed that it’s the Liquid Glass style. From a distance, it looks like a blueprint. Sorry about that!

I tried out the progressive blur feature, and it works like a charm! It’s super easy to use, and the best part is that it even works when exporting to PDF, which is a huge plus!

If I may nitpick a bit, when I have the progressive blur ready, is the only way to edit “the handles for the gradient” positions by switching from radial to linear and back again?

Hi Damian,

You can either click the active tab again to bring the handles up, or the little settings icon in line with the title of the “Blur” section

Glad to see you’re liking the feature so far!

Thanks for the quick response! I see your point, but I find the status of the inactive (gray) and active (orange) icons a bit confusing at first. In the video I shared below, it shows that the active status is on, even though it’s not. It requires two clicks to achieve the desired effect."

Hi Damien,

This is all definitely still in beta at the moment so things may well change before the final release so I’ll be sure to highlight these with the team. We appreciate you taking the time to report this these and let us know of anything else that comes to mind as you use progressive blurs more (and we’re also keen to see what you do with them!).

Loved seeing this news on the roadmap <3

It seems that there are issues with these new Apple UI Libraries: buttons (all of them, it seems, for example, Apple iOS 26 Library/Buttons/Liquid Glass/Over Light Context/Primary) don’t expand correctly when you edit contents. Such issues are rather easy to fix, but where do we file bugs?

Also, it’d be nice to have components grouped the same way it was done in previous design resources, like Bars/Navigation Bars/iPhone - Compact/Light/Default – whom should we write to get them back?

Hi Andrew, welcome to the Forum!

You can file bugs using the Share an issue category. If you want to share any files privately, you can also file bugs by writing to productsupport@sketch.com

And about the library grouping, I’ll relay your feedback, although we can’t make any promises for bringing them back.
