New Mac beta: 2025.1 (Athens) available now

The prototype player is not rendering images for me. Every image is missing. (the last two are SVGs)

Think it is something to do with loading, as I made them WEBP and they load

We’re unlikely to do that, people can start with templates and then change their mind completely, it’s best if people are explicit about where they want and don’t want scrolling, so there’s no surprises.

didn’t fix it actually:

Supposed to have a full webpage image as the background and that just isn’t showing

I prefer this approach too TBH, it’s more explicit. Coming back from Figma I played with it once and was like “Oh that’s cool!” but in practice it was just a little annoying IMO

Hi. In the latest beta, the ability to hide slices still hasn’t been found. This feature is very important to us, since we build Win32 clients entirely out of bitmaps. There are thousands of slices, and being able to hide them would really help with workflow.

I also noticed that the icon for symbols from the library no longer differs from regular symbols. Previously, it had a distinct appearance, which was very useful. Have you decided to abandon that distinction?

Hi there,

You can hide slices through the layer list. Hover over a slice and click on the eye icon, as shown below:

However, in your case, with all those slices we’d like to understand more about your workflow. For instance: marking layers as exportable has the same effect as slices, and it saves you the extra layers.

Can you share more about this to our support email: productsupport@sketch.com ?

Thanks in advance!

We did, yes. When and how was this distinction useful to you?

Bug?

Noticed a possible bug when using frames and guides that has been creating an annoying pain point for using them now because you have to select the artboard directly or an element within to turn on and off a guide. Works fine until you have more than one frame

Hi. We can’t use SVG or CSS in our clients. That’s why all graphics are sliced and exported as PNGs. Here’s a simple example of how an element is sliced — and the same goes for every button, background, and so on. In some projects, we have over a thousand slices.

To make our workflow efficient, we need to quickly hide and then show them again, and Ctrl+E is extremely helpful for that. Can you imagine how much time it would take if we used the method you suggested instead?

We use this all the time.
Is there any other way to visually distinguish library symbols from regular ones?

Not in the layer list, but you’re able to tell this via the inspector. Could you share more about why you want to be able to distinguish between local and library symbols in the layer list?

To interact specifically with library symbols (for example, to make them local), which are mixed on the same artboard with local ones, I just select them from the layer list, relying primarily on the library symbol icon — it’s convenient for me that way :upside_down_face:

What exactly do you mean by “but you’re able to tell this via the inspector”? Maybe I’m not doing it the way you intended?

I mean that if you select an instance, the Symbol panel in the inspector tells you if the symbol is local or from a library.

If that’s what you meant, then I’m disappointed
A simple task like selecting a few library symbols from a bunch of local ones turns into a game of Minesweeper from Windows 95

That is what I mean, I’m afraid.

Could you please tell me more about your workflow in this instance? What are you trying to achieve by locating only the library symbols? Is it because if you select a mix of local and library symbols the Make Local option doesn’t appear in the inspector? Please email me at paulo.pereira@sketch.com if you can, so we can go back and forth a bit without taking over the thread. Thank you!

not sure if this was picked up but think there may be a bug with guides, it works differently when more than one frame is within your canvas, and works differently to v101 making it harder to turn on and off your guides if you have more than one artboard.

We did, yes. When and how was this distinction useful to you?

May I ask why?

Folks — just to reassure you, this thread is still being monitored by the team. We’re in the very final stages of readying the release right now, so folks on the team (myself included) are intensely focused on the pre-launch work we have to do.

Like I say, we are still keeping an eye on this thread and looking into your reports, but if you don’t get a reply in the time you’d typically get one here, that’s why.

On the plus side, this is how you know you’re speaking to the team directly involved in making the product and not some outsourced community team who can always be available!

Hi there! I have a question and I hope it hasn’t already been discussed in this thread—if it has, I apologize. What was the reason for changing the anchor point of the text fields from the top left corner to the left center? I’ve included a video below to better illustrate what I mean. There’s no layout enabled, just a plain artboard with a text field. Thank you!
