New Mac beta: 2025.1 (Athens) available now

Per page. It is ‘content’ technically.

You’re making a good point there, thanks. We’ll debate it internally.

Thank you !
If you could copy paste layout settings, like you copy paste border, fill or all CSS properties, that would also do the job

I actually use that feature a lot. I want to hide the boundaries when deciding a particular look while keeping the layer selected. I understand that it fades away when editing properties or simply clicking outside, but it does help keeping it without doing extra clicks.

Cant hide ‘slice’ layers in beta?

@christophersybico

Someone just informed me that you can now hide boundaries by press & holding space in the beta. (edit)

As for hiding a slice, I believe that’s never been possible in Sketch.

“hide boundaries by using space” – you mean press & holding the space bar? That hides temporarily but I don’t want to keep holding spacebar though.

Regarding hiding slice – I’m pretty sure I can hide slices before. I think there was a “show slices” in the menu in the previous version.

Btw, theres a bug in beta where the inspector doesnt update. It gets stuck in the slice properties.

CleanShot 2025-04-16 at 10.52.32

There was an option to hide slices which now seems to be gone. We need this back.

That’s an odd bug indeed. I can’t seem to reproduce it.
Would you mind sharing a sample file with me?

Regarding slices. Indeed it was possible to hide all slices in the past, but we consider slices a bit of a legacy feature now. Making individual layers is generally a better way to mark things on the canvas as exportable, as it keeps the amount of layer clutter down and the exportable thing is always part of the layer, so the two can never get accidentally separated if you move one but not the other.

The beta takes that a step further with the introduction of frames or graphics, which give you a fixed-size container that you can put your layers, like icons, into and guarantee that they’re always the exact 24x24 size that you need, for example. Making that graphic exportable removes the need for the group and the slice, further simplifying your design.

Since we felt that in almost all cases exportable layers or graphics are better than juggling additional slice layers, we’ve de-emphasized them in Sketch. In a further attempt to reduce the potential options both we and users have to juggle, such as “Why can’t I select this layer? Oh, there’s this option in our already long menus,” we decided to remove it and simplify.

More frames and graphic info.

To help better understand these concepts, we’ll share more content during and after the formal release of Athens.

The UI is buggy in Version 2025.1 (201801)

Just trying to change font size for an element and there is no text panel on the right hand side. Also right clicked something for the menu to open and it didn’t close again after opening so had a sketch right click menu open in the middle of the screen

also experiencing ghosting when moving elements, they stay in the same spot and yet the selectors have moved

there is nothing in the frame anymore, it has moved out, but is showing it is in the frame and the elements are invisible outside of the frame (not being masked either)

Version 2025.1 (201925)

ghosting everywhere, making changes, and nothing is showing but the changes are happening but the front end is not updating. Also, colour picker doesn’t show the accurate pixel colour. It was showng white and some other location before I clicked it and it was mid grey what it should have been showing

Hi @dale

This caught the eye of the product support team, and we would like to investigate it further. Could you share a sample document we can use to run some tests? If you’d rather not share it publicly, you can email it to productsupport@sketch.com, and we can take it from there.

Thanks.

Hi @dale I’m seeing the color picker issue you shared. I’ve shared it with the team so they can look into it.

Thanks for reporting!

About the ghosting, I second Cris’ proposal of looking into this with more detail through email :folded_hands:

a little improvement request: I was expecting that removing the value in the stack gap field would set the stack back to space between. Ideally it would even remember what it was set to before (e.g. Space evenly, or End when adding a value)

Good to know. Ok, will stop using slices and move to graphic container.

Inspector panel bug was in the Apr 16 build. I had to revert back to the Apr 11 build because it’s happening to all layers, not just slices.

Hey there!

We’ve been getting some reports of the Inspector panel getting stuck or not responding. Would you mind sharing this document with us so we can try and replicate? We would also share some steps to see if we can gather a sample process of the app while the issue happens!
