Is there a way to show multiple frames with one sketch link? For example, often times I create 3+ frames that are relevant to a new feature. I cannot combine them into a prototype because they are not directly related. The feature is also not important enough to have its own file or even its own page in an existing file, so what I do is make a rectangle with a text label around the frames and send the page link to developers/product so that they know where to look. Is there a better way to do this? Basically what I’d like the link to do is navigate to the section of the page where the frames live. Thanks.
Hi @rlysaght
Firstly, thank you for taking the time to share your feedback, and welcome to the Sketch forum ![]()
Regarding sharing specific parts of a document, we’ve been working to make this easier. We recently shipped a new web app feature called “Previews”, which makes sharing specific pages and prototypes simpler, but they don’t support individual frames yet.
We know designers want to share specific frames when they’re ready for development, or in isolation to avoid folks commenting on or building the wrong things, and we’ll continue to explore how best to do that in Sketch. That being said, right now, the best options for sharing specific frames with your developer colleagues are:
- Opening the page in the web app and using the right-click → “Copy link to position” option, which gives them a link centred on the pointer location and preserves the zoom level.
- For an even more targeted experience, open the page in the web app and use the inspector to copy a link to a rectangle drawn around the frames. To do this, select the rectangle and use right-click → “Copy link”. This is a little more effort on the designer’s side of the workflow, but it provides a handoff link that opens the page centred on the selected layer, with the inspector open and ready to go.
- Using a Preview (As mentioned, at the moment, this would require setting up a dedicated page to add to the preview).
We’re always listening for feedback on how we can make sharing easier and more productive, so thanks again for taking the time to share yours! ![]()
Thanks for getting back to me so quickly! Option 1 is closest to what I’m looking for right now so I’ll use that until Previews supports selecting frames. Appreciate the help.
