I upgraded to 2025.1.1 today and the Zeplin plugin no longer exports my artboards. I reinstalled the plugin but that didn’t help. I’ve reverted back to 2025.1 and it works with that.
Hi there,
Thanks for reporting this and welcome to the Forum!
I’m sorry to hear you’ve run into this issue with Zeplin. I can easily reproduce the issue in version 2025.1.1, nothing happens when you try to export to Zeplin.
We’ll look into this and share an update
I’m having the same issue. And unfortunately, I started creating new designs in the latest Sketch so cannot revert them to the older Sketch version, and copy/paste comes out with horrible formatting and missing elements.
A quick update to this would be greatly appreciated!
Hi Lara,
Welcome to the Forum!
The latest version is 2025.1.1
, this is the version affected by the bug. The workaround is to revert to the version just before, which is 2025.1
Version 2025.1 will solve the Zeplin export issue and will keep the file formatting as expected. Here’s the step by step process for reverting to the .1 version
- Quit Sketch and Zeplin → this is important
- Download version 2025.1 from this page
- Unzip the file
- Move the file to your Applications folder
- macOS will show an alert, because you already have Sketch on your Mac. Choose "Replace "
- Done! You’re back in version 2025.1
Hi Jorge,
Unfortunately, this still isn’t working. Since the artboards were removed, Zeplin no longer recognizes the selected frames as artboards and displays a message requiring artboards to proceed with export.
Frankly, it’s incredibly frustrating that such a significant change was rolled out without verifying compatibility with Zeplin. I’m the Head of UX/UI at a major company in Dubai, and this update has seriously disrupted our workflow. I’ve already spent the past two days troubleshooting broken designs and symbols caused by this update.
Now, to make matters worse, we can’t export our designs to Zeplin, which is blocking deliveries to our developers and costing us both time and money.
Please treat this as a priority and address the Zeplin integration issue as soon as possible.
Hi Marek,
Thanks for reaching out. First things first: this is being treated as a priority, the team is working as I write this to fix things.
Now, I’ll go into more details, because I think they matter a lot in this case.
Sketch Athens, our latest release brought a major change: we evolved Artboards to Frames. Zeplin relied on Artboards, and with Frames, the plugin broke. Our Development team got to work and together with the Zeplin team compatibility was restored. It’s important to note that all this work was done during the beta phase of Sketch Athens.
So, version-wise, it looks like this:
- Sketch 101.9 → Works with older versions of Zeplin
- Sketch Athens
2025.1
→ update to the latest Zeplin version to get it working (10.23.0) Sketch Athens
2025.1.1
→exports do not work. We’re working on this with top priority
Please note: we’re also investigating a performance issue affecting 2025.1. This is a different issue from the one affecting version 2025.1.1
Here’s a video that shows working exports in version 2025.1
I chatted with Zeplin support and they sent me an updated .sketchplugin
file that allowed me to upload designs!
I would upload it here but can’t because the forum uploader restricts .zip
files.
I recommend chatting with Zeplin–they sent it over to me pretty quickly, and it solved this issue for me!
Hello @Eric, I don’t know if it’s allowed, but could you please send the updated .sketchplugin file in an external link?
Thanks!
Ran into the bug as well today in 2025.1.1
Sketch 2025.1 and Zeplin plugin 1.16 are working. You can download the official plugin from their Github repo, just download the zip file und unzip it, install the sketchplugin as usual
For anyone interested, at this link you can download the Sketch plugin (1.16) working with Sketch 2025.1.1:

You have to uninstall previous version of the plugin and re-install it again with the new file.
Tested and it worked for me
Hi folks,
We just released Sketch 2025.1.2, which among other fixes, solves this problem with Zeplin. You can update Sketch now or download this new version from our Mac app releases page.
