I just wanted to respond to the details of beta 98, but there doesn’t appear to be a way to do so. I cannot create an off-topic thread, and I can’t respond to newsroom posts. Likewise, on the beta 98 announcement thread, it shows there being 2 responses, yet they’re not visible. I’m guessing that’s just the “closed” and “pinned” events showing in the thread timeline.
Anyways, this is one of my first use-cases for this forum, and found it strange that there’s no way to achieve my goal.
We decided to keep the announcements closed to help us better manage feedback. By that, I mean that if we have multiple responses that span bug reports, feature requests, suggestions for changes etc. all under a single post, it makes it hard for us to track and respond to. And we don’t want to miss anything!
