Sketch Barcelona (2025.2.1) API updates

Hey folks :waving_hand:

Now we have a dedicated section for plugins and integrations on the forum, I thought it’d be helpful to share a quick update on where we’re at with our support for plugins.

API updates

We’ve been working on bringing the official JavaScript API up to date with all the changes we made in our Athens and Barcelona release. There’s now support for Stacks, Frames, Progressive Blur, Concentric Corners, and more.

Additionally, we’ve been making a number of other changes and improvements along the way. You can find full details over on the developer website, where you’ll find API update overviews for both Athens (2025.1) and Barcelona (2025.2).

Along with new overviews on the developer website, with Athens, we began adding API release notes to What’s New with Sketch — Latest Updates and Features · Sketch , as a quick reference for those of you who regularly update the app.

We’ll continue on this path with the aim of giving folks who are creating maintaining plugins a nice, stable foundation work from.

What’s next?

Right now, we’re focused on three things:

  1. Bringing (and keeping) the official JavaScript API up to date with all the latest changes in Sketch.
  2. Supporting folks building plugins and integrations, both via this new home in the forum, and via email (developer@sketch.com).
  3. Early explorations on the future of integrations with Sketch, specifically integration with LLMs via an MCP server.

There’s obviously a lot more that we could (and would love to) do here, but our goal is to take small, sustainable steps, rather than make huge promises that could take a long time to materialize.

In the meantime, we’re here in the forum and available via developer@sketch.com if you have questions, feedback or need support.
