Paste to replace was released recently, however! Paste to replace should work on multiple selections, rather than just one. Right now if I press cmd-shift-r with multiple objects selected, only one of them gets replaced. The pasted object should replace anything selected and respect the coordinates of the object that has been replaced. The use case for this is pretty obvious - I’m using the wrong symbol in multiple frames, I want a one click solution to replacing them all in one go.
I previously brought this up on a different request, @jonne ran a poll and although there weren’t a huge number of votes, what I (and I think others) were proposing was the preference - I’d love to see this implemented!
Hi Ash. Just a quick response here to say that, although not part of the “paste over multiple selections” request discussed earlier, if your requirement is that you want to replace the wrong Symbol across multiple frames, you can already do this now. With the multiple Symbol Instances all selected, use the dropdown in the Inspector under the SYMBOL header to replace them with a different Symbol of your choice.
Does this work for your specific use-case?
I missed the past poll, but posting here to also say that I was also expecting Paste to replace to work on multiple selections instead of only one.
My use case is I typically work without symbols until later in my design process, in which case replacing similar objects quickly is useful. Previously, I was using the old Sketch Mate plugin to cover my needs but with Athens, it doesn’t work. Would love for this to be an option!
