hello
i have a new comer to Sketch.
I am not a professional designer, I am an engineer who sometimes designs website ( I know , it is crazy)
I use Figma but I am trying to move away from it.
I have seen some discussion on the topic already.
I would appreciate some tips how to create a layout to say with 16 columns where I can specify my width, and gutters, etc.

Hey Chris,

Thank you for posting! We’d love to help you with this!

When you place a new Artboard on the Canvas, you can:

  • Select the Canvas and press ⌃L (Control-L) to enable the Layout options. The app will do its best to fit pre-defined Layout guides to it.
  • You can then press ⌃⌘L (Control-Command-L) to bring up the Layout options and adjust the Layout guides accordingly to your liking and needs.

16 Columns

To create this specific layout:

  • Type 16 in the Number of Columns field.
  • Make sure you have adjusted the width of the artboard to fit what you need (you can also take into account any paddings, margins on the Artboard you’d like to establish.
  • Lastly adjust the Gutter settings if need be!
  • Done!
