New in Sketch: Previews, Slack integration, and more!

Hey folks :waving_hand:

We’re kicking off 2026 with four new features, starting off with one that’s been heavily requested here in the forum…

Introducing: Previews

We heard your requests for hidden pages and today we’re shipping an option do just that. Well… the opposite of that.

With Previews, you can choose which pages and prototypes in your document to share, and keep the rest hidden. You can create multiple previews per document, each with their own link.

For each preview, you can optionally password protect them, or give them an expiry date (after which, their link no longer works). You can also choose if you want to allow inspecting and asset exports, or commenting with a Sketch account.

Admins in your Workspace will get a new settings page showing every preview, with options to remove them or expire their links.

Better sharing in Slack

If you’ve ever shared a link to a Workspace document in Slack you’ll know that…nothing really happens. Because links by default are private, we don’t pass information about your documents to Slack unless you explicitly make them public.

With our new Slack integration, you can connect your Workspace and have any document link you share from it display a proper preview with information and a thumbnail. This works for links to an entire document, individual page or frame, prototype, even specific comments.

We’ll show previews for any document, so long as it doesn’t live in your drafts or a private folder.

This is our first iteration of the Slack integration and we have ideas to expand on it, so if you try it out, let us know your feedback!

Improvements to Inspect mode

If you’re using the web app’s inspect mode, you’ll now see a full layer list on the left, just like you would in the Mac app, making it far easier to navigate any document and understand its structure.

Hover over any layer in the layer list and click its menu (···) to get options to navigate to it on the Canvas, open its source (if it’s a Symbol or instance), copy a link to it, copy CSS, or export it.

We’ve also updated the contextual menu with a similar set of options to the ones you’ll find in the layer list, along with a new select submenu to refine your selection.

Easier Workspace organization

Staying in the web app, you can now select multiple documents and folders (either by dragging a section or hovering their thumbnails and select their checkboxes), then drag your selection to move it to a different location in your Workspace.

You can also drag one document thumbnail on top of another (if both documents are in the same location) to create a new subfolder.

When you make a selection in the web app, we also show organization options at the bottom of the window in a new toolbar. You can user the move option there to bring up a modal and create new folders, if you need to.

All of these new features are available right now if you’re using a Workspace. As ever, we’re here if you run into any issues or have ideas for improvements.

Look out for a new Mac beta next month, too. :eyes:

OMG Slack integration and Previews :star_struck:

Slack integration works great so far and is such a nice improvement! However the thumbnail sizes seem a bit random? How are they decided? Below are a few examples

Previews appear like a great solution to previous reported problems, but I’m curious about why this feature wasn’t built in the Mac app rather than web? On our end only developers access the web app, whereas designers spent their days in the Mac app. Shouldn’t I be able to setup a Preview from within the Mac app?

Hey @samvermette

Firstly, I’m excited to hear you’ve enabled the Slack integration and that it’s already proving useful!

On the preview images, we generate an image of the document, page, or frame you’re sharing, and its size can change depending on whether you’re sharing an entire page or just a frame. We then have maximum sizes for each axis. I’ll check in with the integrations team and check the rules around preview images to ensure we’re keeping things consistent :+1:

We started with the web app, as it enables more users create, manage, and share previews from anywhere, without having to be on your Mac or have the Sketch Mac app open. We’ve already discussed the potential of creating previews from the Mac app internally, as we know designers live in the design tool itself, and we’ll definitely be keeping an ear open for feedback from users around this new feature :ear:
