Creating an externally sourced photo gallery in Sketch mac app

Hi everyone,

I am relatively new to sketch, and am attempting to design a website as a means of displaying photographs and such.

I am wondering if there is any way to make a gallery that pulls images from external/internal folder(s) without having to manually drag, resize and drop each photo onto an artboard (10+ folders and 100+ photos).

If anyone has experience with similar designs/ideas please don’t hesitate to share your wisdom. Thanks in advance!

Hey there !

It seems like the Data Tool is the perfect feature for you! It makes adding pictures and text to your designs a breeze. You can pull data from both internal and external folders, which saves you the hassle of having to manually resize and place each photo onto the artboard.

You can create your own Data sources and add them to the Data tab in Settings. For that you go to Menubar Sketch > Settings > Data Tab

Click on the option to add data and associate the desired gallery folder.

If you want to get even more out of this tool, you can add third-party data plugins to access a wider range of detailed data sources. The Unsplash plugin is already included as an option, allowing you to easily search and choose an awesome image from their library or even add a random one.

You can read more about this feature on here

Cheers

Thanks Cristiana,

This is definitely a great tool to have.

Is there any way to make a grid and have the program/plugin pull all images from a folder and place them in the grid similar to other web design programs? Or will I have to manually place every photo on the artboards?

Thanks in advance
